The Benue State Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy was established to unlock the vast economic, social, and environmental potential of the River Benue and its inland waterways. The Ministry serves as the coordinating body for policies, programs, and activities related to marine transport, fisheries, aquaculture, sand dredging, shoreline protection, and other blue economy enterprises within the State.
Our mission is to ensure the sustainable utilization of water resources to drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, promote safety and security along the waterways, and contribute meaningfully to the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The Ministry is responsible for promoting the sustainable development and management of Benue State’s water resources. It focuses on harnessing rivers, inland waterways, and aquatic ecosystems to drive economic growth, environmental conservation, and community development.
The Blue Economy refers to the sustainable use of aquatic resources such as rivers, lakes, and oceans for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and environmental health. It includes areas like fisheries, transport, renewable energy, tourism, and waterway development.
